I don't really trust the government, having found myself at the end of their boot on a number of occassions. However there are some good bits of advice here. Most are again pretty obvious if you do go into places which are deemed remote, dangerous or both remote and dangerous remember the FCO will only make contact with you within 24 hours of hearing your in the shit, if nobody knows where you are it will take considerably longer. So it's best to have a plan "B" with you, than sit waiting for the Marines to arrive or the heavy wheels of government to turn and bring you help or support.
Another website which will help you in becoming scared of travel, before you even leave your home. It's good to get information about the places and possible infections, deseases and other things which you might well see.
Use this resource carefully and talk to your doctor before you go, prevention is the better form of illness prevention in my mind.
(Simple rule of thumb is you sleep or eat where people shit you'll get sick.)
